Sailing World Reviews The Topaz Race X

Dave Reed Reviews the Topaz Race X in SW 2010 New Boat Showcase.
Our showcase this year features only one dinghy, the Topaz Race X, imported from Topper Sailboats in England. It's a tricked-out, 12-foot, rotomolded dinghy that can be configured for single or doublehanded sailing and with or without a jib and asymmetric spinnaker. The full sail package is the way to go, and it includes a full-battened mylar main, jib, and asymmetric spinnaker with a single-line launching system. Topaz Sailing, of Annapolis, Md., which imports the boats, says the Race X is perfect for a family with junior sailors: as they grow more confident, let the kids pile on more sail. Because it's rotomolded, it'll take the expected abuse when the adults take it for a spin. The full kit retails for $4,950. www.topazsailing.com
